Sadly, we have a number of Murray families who experience food insecurity issues on a daily basis. School educators see this on a daily basis to various degrees. We also know that many families rely heavily on the free/reduced school lunch and breakfast programs to help supplement the cost of providing food for their children.
Over the years Murray schools and MEF have partnered with USANA’s Kids Eat program, Utah Food Bank, Smith’s Grocery Store, and other individuals and local businesses to help fill this critical gap that can massively impact a student’s ability to concentrate and excel academically, not to mention thrive physically and emotionally.
To this end, MEF is always welcoming of support from our partners and individuals in the community who have the means to provide our schools with food and household supplies that can be allocated to families in need. This campaign is on-going throughout the year. Contact Doug Perry at dperry@murrayschools.org if you, your business, or community organization would like to organize an effort to collect food and household items for our schools.
