Fluttering Changes

Viewmont Elementary’s Vangee Watts loves giving her students this butterfly project every year. They flutter with excitement as they discuss their observations with each other. But it wouldn’t be possible without funding from Murray Education Foundation.
Before releasing them into the wild, Ms. Watts first graders must document the changes in words and drawings using a log template she gives them. The assignment is part of our science study of insects curriculum. Real-world experiences enhance education, helping students complete their own metamorphosis of exploration and learning.
