Lauren King | Longview Elementary
Lauren used her $305 in funding to purchase basic musical instruments to teach music, teamwork, and hand-eye coordination.
Longview’s Lauren King purchased handbells and percussion instruments – slapstick, temple blocks, and jingle bells – to teach her fifth graders to play and sing “Sleigh Ride”. She also used them to teach her sixth-graders to play “Carol of the Bells” or “Jingle Bells”.
While bells are typically used around the holiday season, these instruments will be used year-round to teach rhythm and basic music reading. Students will also learn coordination, teamwork, and listening skills.
